The Tidelands of South Carolina

Part of South Carolina's Low country, the Tidelands is nestled between two popular destinations. Just 30 minutes north of Georgetown is Myrtle Beach, a vacation playland known for its entertainment, shopping, and sandy beaches. Recreation opportunities include more than 100 golf courses in the "Grand Strand" from Georgetown to the border of North Carolina. An hour south is Charleston, one of the earliest American settlements. The city draws millions of visitors for its rich history, landmarks such as Fort Sumter, colonial architecture, and museums.

Georgetown itself is the third oldest city in South Carolina. It was originally settled but abandoned by the Spanish in 1526, and later settled again by England during King George II's reign. Many former plantations are now thriving retirement communities and highly ranked golf courses. Tourists are drawn to downtown historic district that dates back to the early 1700s. Close at hand are white sand beaches and ocean excursions, or fishing and hunting along five blackwater rivers that flow to the Atlantic.
